Supdeco Dakar hosts a Rwandan delegation for a conference on the FTAA

The Supdeco Dakar Group, on Friday, November 29, 2024, hosted a special conference as part of its “Supdeco Fridays’ cycle. The meeting, under the theme “FTAA and Inter-African Trade Development: Rwanda’s Strategy to Boost Exports and Create Jobs,” brought together leading figures from the Presidium.

Took part in this event:

  • His Excellency Mr Karabaranga, Ambassador of Rwanda,
  • Mrs. Michelle Umurungi, Director General of Investment at Rwanda Development Agency,
  • Ms. Yasmine Sy Sarr, Director of Strategic Development
  • Babacar BA, Ambassador, Director of Partnerships and Economic and Cultural Promotion at the Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs (MIAAE).

A moment of exchange rich in lessons

The event kicked off with an inspiring speech by His Excellency Mr Karabaranga, who charted Rwanda’s resilience journey. He highlighted his country’s remarkable ability to overcome major challenges to become a role model for transformation in Africa. He also highlighted the opportunities offered by the AFFTA, while calling on African youth to play a driving role in the continent’s economic integration and sustainable development.

Next, the Director General of Investment, Mrs. Michelle Umurungi, shared the strategies Rwanda is implementing to maximize the benefits of the CAFTA. She outlined concrete actions to boost exports, attract investors and foster job creation in priority sectors.

A commitment to African integration

The conference allowed for fruitful exchanges between speakers and participants, especially students and professionals present.

This event is fully in line with the vision of Supdeco Dakar: to offer a platform for reflection on issues of strategic importance for Africa and to prepare future leaders to meet the challenges of the continent.
