The Banjul campus of Groupe Supdeco Dakar celebrated the graduation of its fifth cohort on Saturday, 17 October 2026, at a ceremony presided over by His Excellency Mohammad B. S. Jallow, Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia. The event brought together institutional dignitaries, diplomatic representatives, entrepreneurs, families, and members of the academic community.
A Ceremony Worthy of the Graduates’ Achievements
The Banjul campus marked a significant milestone with the graduation of its fifth cohort. The ceremony celebrated several years of study, hard work, and perseverance by students who had reached the end of their academic journey.
The presence of His Excellency Mohammad B. S. Jallow, Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, as the presiding guest, alongside government officials, ambassadors, and Senegalese and Gambian leaders, gave the celebration special significance.
Beyond the awarding of degrees, the event provided an opportunity to recognize the graduates’ achievements and mark the beginning of a new chapter in their professional lives. For these graduates, one stage has come to an end, while new opportunities lie ahead in career development, skills enhancement, entrepreneurship, and further studies.
The Aboubacar Sedikhe SY Cohort: A Tribute to a Vision
This fifth graduating class bears the name of the late Aboubacar Sedikhe SY, founder of Groupe Supdeco Dakar, in recognition of his commitment to education and the training of Africa’s future leaders.
The choice of his name reflects a conviction that guided his work: the future of the continent depends, in part, on the ability of its countries to jointly educate and train women and men capable of addressing the economic and social challenges of their time.
By carrying his name, the graduates are encouraged to uphold the values that defined his legacy: hard work, discipline, high standards of quality, and integrity. These principles are intended to guide them throughout their careers.
Five Years of Experience Focused on West Africa
This graduation ceremony also marks five years of Groupe Supdeco Dakar’s presence in Banjul. Since establishing its campus in The Gambia, the institution has contributed to strengthening ties between the academic communities of Senegal and The Gambia.
The graduates’ career paths reflect this momentum. Several alumni are now working in banking, telecommunications, public administration, and Gambian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), while others have embarked on entrepreneurial ventures.
Mobility between the Dakar and Banjul campuses also allows students to experience two complementary linguistic and economic environments. This exposure is an asset for those seeking to build their careers across West Africa.
The campus also welcomes students from more than ten nationalities and hosts groups from international partner universities each year as part of study visits. This international outlook encourages cultural exchange and provides students with opportunities to discover the region’s economic realities.
A New Chapter for the Graduates
The ceremony concluded on a note of pride and hope for the graduates, their families, and the entire academic community.
Groupe Supdeco Dakar extends its warmest congratulations to the Aboubacar Sedikhe SY graduating class and wishes its members every success in their future professional and personal endeavours.
The institution also expresses its gratitude to the Gambian and Senegalese authorities, partners, and guests who honoured the ceremony with their presence. Special thanks go to Abdou FAYE, Director of the Banjul campus, and his entire team for their commitment to organizing the event.
The responsibility now rests with these new graduates to put their skills at the service of their communities and contribute, each in their own way, to shaping Africa’s future.
