As part of their academic and professional training, students from the Higher Institute of Transport (IST) at Groupe Supdeco, coming from the Dakar, Thiès, and Saint-Louis campuses, recently took part in an educational trip filled with discoveries, learning experiences, and exchanges.
This initiative, organized especially for second-year Transport and Logistics students, reflects the institution’s commitment to strengthening the practical dimension of its teaching by exposing students to real-world situations and current challenges in the transport, logistics, and supply chain sectors.
An Immersion into Senegalese Companies
During the trip, the students visited major companies such as the Senegalese Sugar Company (CSS) and La Laiterie du Berger.
These visits allowed students to gain practical insight into:
- logistics and industrial processes;
- supply chain organization;
- freight flow management;
- challenges related to transportation, storage, and distribution;
- as well as the operational requirements of the professional world.
Through discussions with company managers and technical teams, students gained a better understanding of field realities and the skills expected in transport and logistics professions.
Beyond the academic aspect, this immersion also represented a valuable career orientation opportunity, enabling students to develop their curiosity, analytical thinking, and adaptability.
A Human and Unifying Experience
The trip was also marked by a strong spirit of unity among the different IST campuses. Student unions (BDE), together with the sports department, participated in several cultural and sporting activities organized in Saint-Louis, further strengthening teamwork and community spirit among students.
Highlights of the event included:
- the traditional bonfire gathering;
- Takussanu Ndar;
- the Supdeco Campus League final;
- and the masquerade ball.
These activities allowed students to share moments of conviviality, showcase artistic and sporting talents from the different campuses, and strengthen their sense of belonging to the wider Supdeco community.
