Supdeco x Laiterie du Berger Case Study: A Lesson in Impact and Humanity

On Friday, April 11, 2025, the Groupe Supdeco Dakar held a landmark academic ceremony featuring the presentation of the case study: “Laiterie du Berger: Prioritizing Quality of Life Over Profit,” written by Dr. Djiby Anne, researcher and Director of International Development at the Group.

Held at the Dakar Chamber of Commerce, this event reflects Supdeco’s commitment to grounding its pedagogy in real-world scenarios through the case study method, encouraging students to engage with meaningful business models.

A Case Study Focused on the Human Factor

The event opened with a compelling presentation by Dr. Djiby Anne, who skillfully analyzed the business model of Laiterie du Berger, a company founded by Bagoré Bathily. The study highlighted the strategic choices of an entrepreneur who managed to combine economic performance with social impact, placing the well-being of dairy farmers at the core of his vision.

A Moment of Exchange and Collective Reflection

Following the presentation, a Q&A session allowed for a deeper dive into the themes explored, with thought-provoking insights from Mr. Bagoré Bathily, Mr. Abdoul Aziz, Deputy CEO of Groupe Supdeco, and Dr. Djiby Anne, moderated by Ms. Yasmine Sy Sarr. The session was marked by open, dynamic, and engaging dialogue.

An Engaged Audience, an Inspiring Message

Students, faculty members, partners, and guests all praised the quality of the discussions, the relevance of the case, and the authenticity of the testimonials. Laiterie du Berger stood out as a powerful example of purpose-driven entrepreneurship with the capacity to bring about lasting transformation in local communities.

A Friendly Closing Touch

The event concluded on a warm and convivial note with a Dolima tasting stand, offering students some of the Laiterie du Berger’s signature products, including the beloved thiakry. A delicious way to extend the conversation and bring academic learning even closer to everyday reality.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Laiterie du Berger, and especially to Mr. Bagoré Bathily, for his inspiring presence and unwavering commitment to our students. We also thank all our guests for their active participation in making this event a success. Finally, we warmly congratulate Dr. Djiby Anne for the excellence of his work and his ability to convey, through this case study, the core values of responsible and human-centered entrepreneurship.
