The Higher Institute of Transport of the Supdeco Dakar Group organized, on Friday, May 15, 2026, an exceptional Masterclass as part of its Humanitarian Logistics program. This academic and professional event brought together students, lecturers, and sector enthusiasts around a strategic and highly current issue:
💡 “The last mile: a key challenge in humanitarian distribution”
For this session, participants had the privilege of welcoming Ndeye Astou Gueye Seck, Procurement Assistant at UN Women and alumna of Supdeco Dakar, who came to share her professional experience and expertise in the field of humanitarian supply chain management.
The Masterclass, moderated by Thierno Seck, provided an opportunity to discuss the many challenges related to the distribution of humanitarian aid, particularly in hard-to-reach areas, emergency contexts, and environments with significant logistical constraints.
At the heart of the discussions, several key themes were explored:
- the challenges of transporting and delivering humanitarian resources;
- difficulties related to the “last mile” in distribution operations;
- the strategic role of the supply chain in humanitarian interventions;
- as well as the importance of anticipation, coordination, and innovation in logistics management.
Through concrete examples from her professional experience, the speaker offered students a practical insight into the realities of humanitarian fieldwork, while sharing valuable advice on the skills and qualities required to work in this demanding and socially impactful sector.
