Alumnus of the Month – Penda Ndiaye Thiaw, Director of Internal Control and Governance at TotalEnergies

Penda Ndiaye Thiaw joined Groupe Supdeco Dakar, where she earned a Master’s degree in Finance (1995–1999). This program enabled her to develop strong expertise in financial analysis, audit, control, and governance—essential foundations for a career built on rigor, excellence, and integrity.

Certified as a CIA – Certified Internal Auditor and holder of the ICCF – International Certificate in Corporate Finance from HEC Paris, she further strengthened her academic background with high-level international certifications, enhancing her expertise in corporate finance, valuation, risk analysis, and strategic decision-making.

She began her professional career at Deloitte Sénégal, where she built a remarkable career spanning nearly 20 years. She steadily rose through the ranks from Audit Assistant to Director of the Audit Department. In this role, she supervised a team of more than thirty professionals, led engagement planning, managed the department’s budget, and ensured compliance with international professional standards.

During her time at Deloitte, Penda Ndiaye Thiaw worked with international groups, financial institutions, donor-funded projects, and companies operating across various sectors, including banking, dairy industry, fisheries, transport and logistics, hospitality, retail, automotive, and events. She also contributed to Deloitte’s quality and risk management systems across Francophone Africa, conducting quality control missions and independent reviews on sensitive engagements.

Following this extensive experience, she worked as an independent Audit and Risk Management Consultant (2019–2021), supporting local companies in internal control reviews, risk mapping, drafting procedures manuals, and audit training.

Since June 2021, Penda Ndiaye Thiaw has served as Director of Internal Control and Governance at TotalEnergies Sénégal, where she leads internal control, compliance, and risk management frameworks. She also acts as Ethics & Compliance Officer, helping to strengthen a culture of ethics, transparency, and accountability within the organization.

A passionate, determined, and results-oriented professional, she leverages her expertise to support the sustainable performance of organizations, with a strong commitment to governance and continuous improvement.
